Cops have launched a probe after a man was 'seriously attacked' in Edinburgh in the early hours of this morning. Officers were alerted to the incident at around 2:20am this morning, January 23, in the Ferniehill Drive area of Gilmerton in the city.
A 30-year old man was rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but no details are known on his condition at this stage.A local bus operator announced earlier that Old Dalkeith Road had been shut down afterwards with traffic diverted.Police Scotland confirmed an investigation has been launched into the incident.A spokesperson said: “Around 2.20am on Monday, 23 January, we were called to a report of a man having been seriously attacked in the Ferniehill Drive area of Gilmerton, Edinburgh.“A 30-year-old man has been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.“Enquiries are ongoing."
