A man who was recalled to prison was found dead in his cell at HMP Forest Bank after just nine days of freedom. Jonathan Pisani, who was 46, was convicted of firearm offences in August, 2021, and sentenced to 15 months in prison.
He was released on January 4, 2022, but recalled to prison just nine days later, on January 13, for breaching his licence conditions and sent to Forest Bank in Pendlebury, Salford.
A published report by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman (PPO), which investigates deaths in custody, said Mr Pisani, who had a history of illicit drug and alcohol use, died six days after arriving at the prison - on January 19, 2022. until he went to the dentist The report said his cell mate fell asleep at around 8pm the night before after he had smoked 'spice', described as a type of psychoactive substance.
