Man 'loses part of hand' after firework explodes in moving BMW

Two men were left with serious injuries to their face and hands after a firework exploded in a moving BMW. Police were called to the incident at 12.30pm on Sunday (November 5) to reports of a 'loud bang'.

Officers received reports that two men had been seriously injured after a firework had detonated inside of a moving car along Brook Hey Drive in Kirkby, Merseyside, as witnesses reported seeing one man 'very badly hurt' who had 'lost part of his hand'.

Footage captured the moment the firework exploded inside the car as clouds of grey smoke can be seen billowing out of the vehicle and a bright red spark shows the firework burning inside, reports the ECHO. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that all the occupants 'bailed out' of the car before three got back into the vehicle, leaving one man on the road.
