Manchester City travelled to Chelsea without Nathan Ake after the defender was ruled out with injury. Ake came on for the injured John Stones for the second half of the Champions League game with Young Boys on Tuesday, and was mentioned by Pep Guardiola as an option to take on the Stones role while the England man is injured.
However, the former Chelsea centre-back has suffered an injury that denied him the opportunity to take on his old club. Josko Gvardiol starts at left-back for City at Stamford Bridge, with Manu Akanji filling in for Stones alongside Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker in defence.
Jeremy Doku is the one surprise in the lineup, keeping Jack Grealish on the bench.
