A man was left scratching his head after receiving a bill that "made no sense" at a stylish new bar. The punter, who asked not to be named, was out with his flatmate at the upmarket Sexy Fish in Manchester, which opened in Spinningfields last month.Hoping for a good experience at the glitzy new venue, they sat at the bar and ordered two negronis - a staple for most cocktail bars.
But when the pals asked for the bill, they were left stunned as it "didn't add up". The receipt shows two negronis charged at £9.25 each, which should amount to £18.50.
But the subtotal on the receipt is £28 - with the final cost being £31.78, after Sexy Fish's 13.5 per cent service charge was added, Manchester Evening News reports.
The man immediately raised the potential discrepancy with staff, whom he said at first "seemed at a loss to explain it". He was later told that the extra cost came about because of a "gin upgrade", of which he said he was unaware and branded it "sneaky".Sexy Fish say that the price surge was brought on by the use of Plymouth Gin, which they class as an upgrade on the standard negroni.
