A man aged in his 40s has tragically died after a crash on the M58 motorway. The smash happened on the M58 westbound, between the M6 Orrell Interchange near Wigan and junction three for St Helens.
at around 12.53pm yesterday (Friday, May 17). A stretch of the motorway was fully closed off as emergency services responded.
Lancashire Police said the crash involved four vehicles - two articulated large goods vehicles and two cars. Sadly, the driver of one of the cars died on the scene. A stretch of the motorway was closed off for the afternoon and evening after the crash as investigations were carried out. The westbound carriageway was fully reopened at around 5am this morning once resurfacing work had taken place.
