A pensioner suffered serious leg injuries when he was 'struck' by a car after collapsing in the middle of a road, police have revealed.
The 67-year-old man, who hasn't been named, was walking across the road at the time. He remained in hospital on Saturday with what police called serious leg injuries.
Officers in Bury said initial enquiries suggested he collapsed as he reached the middle of the road and was then hit by a dark grey or silver-coloured Mercedes Benz.
The collision happened on Eldon Street, off the A56 Walmersley Road, near to a parade of shops at around 7pm. No arrests have been made as yet.
