A man told a top judge that he "completely forgot" to show up for jury duty.John Culshaw was ordered to "show cause" or explain his absence before the Honorary Recorded or Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary KC on Monday, August 14.
It comes after he "repeatedly failed to attend for jury service when required" at Liverpool Crown Court. As reported in the Liverpool Echo, the court heard that the 24-year-old did not show up for his first day of jury duty but did attend for subsequent days.
Culshaw, of Sandyville Road in Walton, was then was a no show for his second week of service.After staff contacted him, he reported that he was struggling with his mental health but failed to produce a requested doctor's note.
His second week of service was deferred, but the juror did not attend for this rearranged date. Culshaw told the court yesterday: "I'm not here to lie to anyone.
