A "cowardly" thug guzzled 15 pints, drank vodka and snorted cocaine before glassing a former rugby player - leaving him blind.
Ex-Leeds Rhinos player Matthew Syron had "limited interaction" with attacker Gareth Dean before he was injured in the "sickening attack", a court has heard.
But at the moment Mr Syron stood at a bar, on a night out to celebrate Boxing Day last year, Dean struck. The 37-year-old with a long history of violence has now been jailed, Yorkshire Live reports.
Leeds Crown Court heard yesterday (March 5) how Dean had been drinking from 11am on the morning before the attack, and had gone to watch rugby league.
