Jake Brown was carrying out renovations on his new Georgian home in Plymouth when he drilled into a wall and made a surprising discovery.
He noticed that two walls were of different textures, which piqued his interest. Drilling further, he made a hole big enough to poke his head through to take a further look.
Then he was shocked to find a 120-year-old cavernous tunnel beneath the house - which was big enough to climb into and explore.
As he investigated the void between the house he found old paint cans and old newspapers which had turned into a pulp but which revealed the tunnel had been blocked up for at least five decades.
