A mum is calling on public toilets to reopen as soon as possible as she feels trapped inside despite lockdown restrictions being eased.

Cat Whitfield has a bowel condition which means having access to a toilet is vital, as she can often need to go at short notice.

The 40-year-old, who had been furloughed from her job as a secretary for a commercial property firm, says she and daughter Libby had to turn round and come home when they tried to venture out.

She told Mirror Online: "During lockdown I didn't really go out, but when Boris said we could travel, we decided to go out but it was so hard." Along with her 12-year-old daughter, Cat attempted to go to Hornsey, about a 40 minute drive from her home near Hull.
