A man insists that he doesn't care if his name goes extinct as he still thinks it's 'cool'. Graeme Currie, 34, says he is proud of his name despite it being endangered, reports the Daily Star.

The 34-year-old's first name has dramatically plummeted in popularity in recent years. The unique spelling has not been used by parents naming their new-borns in quite some time, which is why the moniker has been branded endangered.However, despite the lack of appeal of parents, Graeme believes more children should be given the name.

He said: "I think more people should be named Graeme."I think it's a kind of cool name. I was noticing a lot of younger people had different names and it was like Graeme seemed to be rarer."I think it's always good to encourage the older names like Graeme, Guy and Greg." Graeme admits he has noticed there are less babies with his name nowadays.He said: "It's getting a bit rarer these days.

I think names like David are more popular."To be honest, I guess society is moving on in a way. I think names are a good thing that show a part of history."I wouldn't say I've felt lonely, but I guess the only good side [of having an extinct name] is that you don't get confused with other Graeme's." The 34-year-old believes anyone sharing his name is destined to be on the right track.Graeme added: "I believe the name Graeme sets you on a good path.
