Man dies in hospital six days after 'attempted murder' bid in Scots town

A man who was left seriously injured after an incident in a Scots town has died in hospital almost a week later, police have confirmed.

Officers locked down MacPhail Drive in Kilmarnock following the alleged attack on a 39-year-old man on Sunday, September 18.

The man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment, but died in hospital yesterday, Saturday, September 24.

Police Scotland said after the incident that it was being treated as an attempted murder, and a man later appeared in court.
