Man dies in hospital after van crash closes major Scots motorway

A Scots man has died following a crash on the M8. The 59-year-old man was rushed to hospital after a van crashed on the motorway on Saturday, November 4 at around 5.10pm, reports Edinburgh Live.Emergency services rushed to junction 2 near Newbridge and the man was taken to hospital but sadly passed away.

His next of kin has been informed.It is believed that the death is medical related, and not as a result of the collision. The road was closed as the emergency services attended but reopened at around 6.10pm last night.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.10pm on Saturday, 4 November, 2023, we were made aware of a single vehicle crash on the M8 westbound near junction 2, Newbridge.“Emergency services attended, and the 59-year-old male driver of the van was taken to hospital where he later died.
