Man dies at Scots beauty spot after 'getting into difficulty' in water

A man has sadly died after getting into difficulty at a Scots beauty spot despite a rescue mission to save him. Police and paramedics were called to the scene at the beach in Tyninghame, East Linton, on Sunday, September 18, following reports of a person in the water.

Crews from the RNLI and a local HM Coastguard team were also scrambled to help but the 51-year-old was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police have confirmed the man’s passing but say there are no suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal as is the case with all sudden deaths.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 51-year-old man has died after getting into difficulty in the water at a beach in Tyninghame, East Linton on Sunday, 18 September."Police and emergency services, supported by the RNLI and local coastguard, attended, however, the man died at the scene."There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.” Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter here .
