Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US. Its third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Man dies after three pedestrians hit by van in Scots town smash

A man has died after he and two other pedestrians were struck by a van on Saturday.The 29-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident on the A726 Glasgow Road in Strathaven, South Lanarkshire, at around 10.50am on April 1.

A 52-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital following the horrific incident, where medics say her condition is "serious but stable".A 24-year-old woman who was also struck by the vehicle attended Wishaw General Hospital and has since been discharged.

Several people are reported to have rushed to help those involved.Police have since arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with the incident.

He has since been released pending further enquiries.The road was closed for almost five hours as detectives carried out investigations.
