A man has died after firing a 'gun' on a town centre street. Police say the man, in his 50s, suffered serious injures after discharging a firearm in Stafford on Friday evening (May 31).
Emergency services descended on Espleys Yard at around 6.20pm, after receiving calls for concern for the man's welfare. Despite the best efforts of medics at the scene, he sadly died a short time later, Stoke-on-Trent Live reports.
Staffordshire Police says the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, due to previous contact with the force.
The man's next of kin has been informed and detectives do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the 'tragic incident'.
