A man has died after suffering a heart attack at Rivington Pike near Bolton. The man, in his 60s, collapsed at the summit of the popular beauty spot on Sunday morning.
Two off duty nurses performed CPR and an air ambulance and mountain rescue team were called. But despite their best efforts the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement Bolton Mountain Rescue Team said: "At 8.29am this morning the team were contacted by North West Ambulance Service who were requesting our assistance at an incident at Rivington Pike, following a 999 call regarding a male reported to be in cardiac arrest.
North West Air Ambulance had also been called to the scene.
