The uncertainty surrounding Manchester City will put off any potential new players signing for the club during the January transfer window.
That is the frank verdict of former Arsenal forward Ian Wright, who believes the fact Pep Guardiola is out of contract at the end of the season, coupled with the 115 charges City are currently contesting, may deter any big players joining the club in the winter.
City have been charged with failing to report accurate financial information for nine seasons stretching from 2009/10 to 2017/18, as well as failing to provide full details of former manager Roberto Mancini’s pay between 2009/10 and 2012/13. The club deny any wrongdoing and have previously said they have a “comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence” to support their stance.
