Kevin De Bruyne could be out until February 2024, Pep Guardiola says, as he admitted that Manchester City's transfer plans have been altered by the Belgian's long-term injury.

Guardiola had this week said De Bruyne would be out for three to four months, before saying that lay-off was in fact four to five months in his press conference on Friday.

Now, he has referred to De Bruyne being absent until February, suggesting he could miss six months of the season. However, while City are open to signing a new midfielder or forward in response to De Bruyne's injury, Guardiola insists that the Blues will not pay over the odds for a player and will walk away from prospective deals if the price isn't right.

City have an interest in Lucas Paqueta, but reports on Friday suggested the chances of that deal going ahead had plummeted, and that was before it emerged he is the subject of a betting investigation.
