City were behind inside three minutes when a debut howler from Abdukodir Khusanov gifted the visitors an opener. But the centre back and City regained composure as the half went on and were level before the break when Josko Gvardiol scored.
Erling Haaland lobbed City ahead after an error from Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez and Phil Foden wrapped up the points late on.
