Manchester City expect Scott Carson to be ready when called upon, after signing the goalkeeper up to another year at the Etihad.

Carson, 37, has been at City since 2019, when he joined on loan from Derby for two seasons to act as third-choice goalkeeper.

When his Derby contract expired in 2021, Carson signed for the Blues on a free transfer, and he signed a one-year contract extension last summer.

Now, he has put pen to paper on another year extension, which will take his association with City to five years. He has made two appearances for the club in total - in an entertaining game at Newcastle in May 2021, where he saved a penalty, and in the Champions League last season against Sporting.
