Manchester City are reportedly weighing up a move for Brentford left-back Aaron Hickey after receiving a setback in their pursuit of Chelsea's Ben Chilwell.
City had been linked with a move for Chilwell as they look to strengthen their full-back options in the summer. It is widely understood that Joao Cancelo is on the way out of the Etihad while Kyle Walker could be in for a reduced role next season after Pep Guardiola claimed he could not play the inverted defensive midfield role which he has favoured in recent weeks.
Chilwell was reportedly on City's radar but after signing a new contract earlier this month, he is now deemed to be off the shortlist for City.
According to The Sun, Hickey is highly thought of by the Blues. ALSO READ: Kompany responds to Chelsea manager links The defender joined from Bologna in the summer and despite being 20 years old he has made 20 appearances already for the Bees.
