Manchester City defender Sergio Gomez says he wants to stay at the club despite a slow start to his career at the Etihad Stadium.
Gomez made 23 appearances for City in all competitions last season but struggled to dethrone Joao Cancelo or Nathan Ake at left back with Manuel Akanji and Rico Lewis seemingly ahead of him in the queue.
His drop down the pecking order has led to suggestions the Spain U21 international could leave on loan next season in search of regular playing time.
But, in an interview with Spanish paper AS, Gomez is adamant he wants to stay. "I haven’t talked to him (Pep Guardiola) about next season, but I want to stay there [at City]," he said. "I’m going to go from the first day of the pre-season with a lot of desire to show him that I can have more minutes.
