Manchester City's move for Lucas Paqueta is 'off', according to reports. City had agreed a deal in principle for the £80million transfer of Paqueta from West Ham, with Pep Guardiola having identified the Brazilian as a priority signing.
The Catalan pushed forward on interest following the long-term injury suffered by Kevin De Bruyne. However, talks were put on hold last Wednesday and City appear to have moved on to other targets after agreeing a £55.5m fee with Stade Rennais for the transfer of Jeremy Doku.
Despite some hope that the deal could still be done, Sky Sports reports that the deal is now off. It does not go into detail as to why the move has fallen through. City signed Phillips for just over £40million from Leeds United last summer, but the 27-year-old has struggled for consistent football, owing to a number of injuries and the inability to displace the ever-present Rodri.
