If it is to be goodbye, it was certainly a beautiful one. Bernardo Silva's future at Manchester City is looking increasingly uncertain but supporters did everything in their power to make sure he knows exactly how much he is loved at the Etihad.
When Bernardo was brought on during Saturday's 4-0 win over Bournemouth he was given a rapturous reception. One that was sustained for several minutes and only increased again whenever he approached the stands to take a corner or have a drink.
At full-time, the Portuguese lingered on the pitch, gave his shirt to a young supporter and applauded every side of the stadium.
It's hard not to think that such emotional scenes were a final farewell just in case he doesn't take to the pitch again.
