seagull to death with a child's spade in front of horrified beachgoers and tourists. One woman, who witnessed the violent outburst, has stated that the incident was seen by several distressed children.
She claims that a family group who were sitting nearby repeatedly threw cans of fizzy juice at a seagull who was perched close to them, injuring the poor legally protected species, before one of the group "beat it to death with a kid’s spade".
According to Wales Online, the witness said that when the group were confronted, they were verbally abusive. It is now understood that Devon and Cornwall police were called to the scene at Porthgwidden Beach, St Ives in Cornwall, but the group had vacated the beach by the time officers arrived.
