A man has been arrested over the disappearance of a girl who vanished for around 27 hours in the Borders.The 11-year-old was discovered ‘safe’ at a property in the Galashiels area at around 9.30pm on Monday, February 6, after being reported missing the day before.Police Scotland have confirmed that a 53-year-old man, named locally as Andrew Miller, has now been detained in connection.
Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing, the force confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.Officers remain at a property in the small village of Gattonside, which is found around three miles from where the girl was last seen.
Specialist forensics officers wearing white suits have been spotted examining cars parked in the drive of the detached home.
A statement from the force said: “A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl from Galashiels, who was reported missing on Sunday, 5 February.“The girl was traced at a property in the Galashiels area around 9.30pm on Monday, 6 February.
