Police have arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with the death of 24-year-old Peter Kirkwood. Sources told the Record that officers were seen on Wheatland Drive in Lanark earlier on Wednesday, four days after Peter was found injured a few metres away on Mousebank Road.
Paramedics fought to save the 24-year-old in the early hours of Saturday July 16 but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Cops initially arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the incident but he was later released pending further enquiries.
They now say a 44-year-old man has been detained in connection with Peter's death. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of 24-year-old Peter Kirkwood in Mousebank Road, Lanark on Saturday, 16 July.
Police enquiries are continuing." A police source added: "Our presence in Wheatland Drive is in connection with the ongoing investigation into the death of Peter Kirkwood."Tributes were left to Peter on social media by pals in Lanark who were left shocked and upset at his death.
