Man arrested after woman allegedly raped in early morning Port Glasgow incident

Police have arrested a 44-year-old man after a woman was allegedly raped in Port Glasgow at the weekend. Officers launched a probe after the incident at Barr's Brae near to John Wood Street, at around 3.30am on Sunday November 13.

A 44-year-old man has since been arrested and cops say enquiries are ongoing. Police cordoned off the scene yesterday and remained in the area for most of the day while they carried out their investigation.A set of stairs nearby between Princes Street and Springhill Road was taped off.

Several police cars were pictured at the scene throughout Sunday.Another image shows officers on the ground carrying out their initial enquiries.Speaking to the Record this morning, Police Scotland confirmed the arrest.A spokesperson for the force said: "A 44-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."
