Man appears in court charged with attempted murder after death of James McMaster in Wishaw

A man has been charged with attempted murder after the death of James McMaster in Wishaw. Scott Chambers appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, December 16, with the charges of assault to severe injury and attempted murder put against him.The 50-year-old man, from Wishaw, made no plea and was remanded in custody.

His next court appearance is expected to be within eight days.Emergency services had been called to the North Lanarkshire town's Maxton Crescent after receiving reports of a body being found within a flat on Thursday, December 5.

Crews attended and McMaster, 53, was found dead at the scene..Following the arrest, a Police Scotland statement read: "A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault following the death of a man in Wishaw.
