A man was allegedly murdered outside an Asda supermarket by five boys after he confronted them for ''messing about in the toilets", a court heard.
Ian Kirwan, 53, died after he was stabbed in the heart on March 8 this year following a disturbance at the store on Jinnah Road, Redditch, the Mirror reports.
Five teenagers, aged 13 to 16, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stood trial at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday, November 9, where they all denied charges of murder, violent disorder and manslaughter.The jury heard that one of the defendants, aged 14, admitted inflicting the fatal blow to the 53-year-old, who was software engineer for Jaguar Land Rover, and claims the defence of diminished responsibility.
The teen also pleaded not guilty to a further offence of possession of a bladed article in public.Prosecutor Benjamin Aina KC, who opened the case, told the court: "We are dealing with the evening of Tuesday, March 8, this year.
