Man, 47, dead after being stabbed in Wythenshawe

A man has died after being stabbed in Wythenshawe. Police and forensics swarmed Whitburn Road, in the Newall Green area, at around 8pm to reports of a stabbing on Wednesday (December 4).

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the victim, a 47-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Pictures from the scene showed police vehicles lining the road, along with paramedics.

A tent was also erected at the scene with forensics in white suits conducting investigations. 'Crucial forensic evidence' will be gathered at the scene overnight, police said.

Detective Inspector Helen Bagnall, of GMP, said: “We know that this news will be distressing for the community, but I would like to reassure you that we are following several lines of enquiry, we have additional officers in the area speaking to people, and resources from across the force have been deployed to gather evidence. “A scene is in place and will remain overnight to ensure we can gather crucial forensic evidence.
