Man, 39, arrested over disappearance of missing 18-year-old woman not seen for six days

A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a teenage woman who has not been seen for six days.

Tara Whelan, 18, was last seen in Halifax, West Yorkshire, on the morning of December 15. Police have now said a man has been arrested in connection with the case.

The man is in custody, but it has not been confirmed what offence he is suspected of. Tara is still missing after disappearing a week ago and police are asking any person with information to come forward and help with the search.

Investigators have said it is "out of character" for her to be out of contact with her family for so long. The woman is described as white, 5ft7ins tall, of medium build and pale complexion with blonde hair and glasses.
