Man, 35, stabbed to death named as three due in court after murder investigation

A man stabbed to death in Bolton can be named today as Michael McCann. Mr McCann, who was 35 and believed to be from the Bolton area, died following reports to police of a stabbing in The Haulgh area of the town, just outside Bolton town centre, last Friday evening.

Police were called at around 7.15pm to Bradford Street. Mr McCann was taken to hospital, but died as a result of his injuries, Greater Manchester Police said. Paul Simmons, 48, of Bradford Street in Bolton, has been charged with Mr McCann's murder. Jordan Downes, 31, of no fixed abode, is charged with assisting an offender.

Kelly Hughes, 37, of no fixed abode, is charged with obstructing police. All three were due to appear before Wigan and Leigh magistrates court today, Monday.
