Man, 22, killed after being struck on M6 motorway is named

A man who was killed after being struck by a vehicle on the M6 motorway has been named as John Burns. The 22-year-old, a pedestrian, died in the tragic crash on Saturday (September 14).

Police believe he was struck by a vehicle at junction 42 near Carlisle. In a statement issued today (September 18), Cumbria Police named the man as Mr Burns.

Officers are continuing to appeal for any witnesses, or anyone with dash cam footage of the incident, to come forward. After the incident on Saturday evening, a stretch of the M6 motorway was closed in both directions for around 12 hours as investigation work was carried out.
