A man has been left fighting for his life and a woman has been arrested following an incident in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of the morning.
Police descended on the city's waterfront after a horrific crash between a taxi and an Audi TT. Merseyside police said the white TT came to the attention of officers at around 1.10am 'travelling at speed.' Soon after, the Audi crashed into a private hire taxi on the Strand.
The taxi then crashed into a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries.
His condition is described as critical, police said.
