Maika Monroe Joins Kornél Mundruczó’s ‘Place To Be’

EXCLUSIVE: Weeks after signing on to lead Reminders of Him, Universal’s adaptation of the novel from It Ends with Us scribe Colleen Hoover, Maika Monroe has found another new project in Place to Be, the latest indie drama from Hungarian filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó (Pieces of a Woman).

Character details are under wraps. Ellen Burstyn and Taika Waititi lead the film examining the unlikely friendship of an elderly woman and middle-aged man as they travel from Chicago to New York to return a lost racing pigeon home.

Others in the cast, as previously announced, include Murray Bartlett, Pamela Anderson, Edgar Ramírez, and Lena Waithe. Written by Mundruczó and Kata Wéber, the filmmaker’s wife and frequent collaborator, Place to Be is shooting at Disney Studios Australia in Sydney.

Producers on the project include Jomon Thomas (Monkey Man, Hotel Mumbai), Megan Wynn (Together, Poker Face), and Alexander Rodnyansky (Loveless, Beanpole).
