Married at First Sight star Chanita Stephenson has shared an update about her experience of losing her mum Chondelle to lung cancer in January this year. The star, who became a famous face after appearing on the popular E4 dating show in 2022, announced a year ago that she had been dealing with something difficult in her personal life, which turned out to be her mum's diagnosis.Taking to her social media on Saturday, 1 June, the 32-yaer-old reality star said: “Within that week whilst dealing with other stuff, I found out my mum may have cancer and my Mum didn’t want anyone to know.

I really hoped it would all be okay. It took professionals until August to confirm that she had terminal lung cancer which was aggressive and untreatable.” She continued: “I had evidence that my Mum was let down and it hurts having to live with that knowledge.” Chanita confirmed her mother's death in January with a series of snaps of her and Chondelle together, and captioned the tribute with "I miss you so much already".

She added: “Chondelle Stephenson, better known as my strong, beautiful, funny, intelligent, caring, courageous mother.” Chanita’s fans were quick to flood her comments section with messages of condolences, with one person penning: "Sending you the biggest hug and all the love, so sorry for your loss." Chanita found fame on the 2022 series of Married at First Sight UK, when she was paired with Jordan Emmett-Connelly.The couple ended the show on a high, but later split up.

At the time, sources claimed that Chanita "tried everything" to make their relationship work, but it wasn't enough to make the marriage last.
