A new Madeleine McCann suspect has previous convictions for sex offences, police have said. Today Met Police confirmed a German prisoner has been identified as a new suspect in the case.
German police have told broadcaster ZDF that he is currently in jail for a sexual crime. He has two previous convictions for "sexual contact with girls".
He also has a history of burglary theft, they said. German officers are not ruling out a sexual motive, and say he may have broken into the holiday apartment before snatching Maddie spontaneously.
