A council chief has revealed a new luxury boutique hotel in Perth and Kinross Council's (PKC) former offices and city chambers is due to open in 2026.In April 2022 Perth and Kinross councillors voted to hand 1-5 High Street, Perth to developers for £1.The deal was done privately but the council's strategic lead for Economy, Development and Planning publicly revealed progress on the project to councillors as they met on Wednesday, September 4.David Littlejohn provided the update as he presented the Perth City Centre Development and Design Framework - which will go out for public consultation shortly.Presenting the Perth City Plan, PKC's strategic lead for Economy, Development and Planning David Littlejohn said: "I'm delighted to advise that the planning application for the conversion of 1-5 High Street into a boutique hotel is currently being prepared by the developer with an opening scheduled - subject to planning permission - for mid 2026."After the meeting a PKC spokesperson confirmed the application was expected soon.The council spokesperson said: "We are expecting a planning application for the transformation of 1-5 High Street into a boutique hotel to be lodged soon."Councillors agreed to grant a development lease of the former offices to Rogue City Hotels, part of the Henley Group, in 2022 and it is expected the hotel will open in 2026 if planning permission is granted."The developers will have the option to buy the building from the council once work has been completed."In April 2022, councillors voted by 26 votes to nine to hand the former council building to Rogue City Hotels to bring it back to its former glory.A council spokesperson said the building was "surplus to the council’s requirements for office space
