Lulu announces retirement after 'gruelling tour'

The 75-year-old Scots icon is set to perform her final tour in April, kicking-off in her hometown of Glasgow, and touring through Manchester, Southampton, Gateshead, Birmingham; culminating at The London Palladium.Lulu said that she found her last major run of gigs "gruelling" and she has decided that she wants to focus on other areas of her career.Speaking to Gyles Brandreth on his Rosebud podcast, Lulu said: “This is actually - I’m announcing it for the first time now - this is my farewell tour, with family, and friends.“Because last year I did a tour that was kind of gruelling - it was successful, it went well - but you need an army to be a success in your career these days.
And I felt unsupported. But then I turned 75, and I thought, 'You know what, I want to carry on working, but I want to do it a different way’."Lulu added: “I've learned.
And I've also become a slightly different person. I'm not afraid to be vulnerable."Last month, the Glaswegian singer appeared on ITV's Lorraine and said that she's excited for Champagne for Lulu to kick off, particularly in Glasgow.She said: "This is a celebration, I start in Glasgow, I do two warm up gigs, one in Glenrothes and one in Aberdeen, before I go to my hometown!
