Seventeen year old Luke Littler has made history by becoming the youngest world darts champion, amassing a whopping £500,000 in career earnings.

Despite his historic win, he's facing a significant tax hit, with nearly half of his prize money earmarked for the taxman. The young prodigy, who triumphed over Michael van Gerwen with a 7-3 victory at Alexandra Palace, improved on his previous year's runner-up finish to Luke Humphries.

As the favourite going into the tournament, Littler claimed the title and the Sid Waddell Trophy, along with a sizeable payday.

However, UK tax laws dictate that Littler must relinquish a hefty £223,213 to HMRC, alongside up to £12,010 in National Insurance contributions, as per the Daily Mail, via Wales Online.
