Anna Maxwell Martin has portrayed numerous real-life figures throughout her acting career, including Cassandra Austen in Becoming Jane and journalist Heather Brooke in On Expenses.

However, her role in ITV1's Until I Kill You stands out. Anna plays Delia Balmer, a survivor of a serial killer, in the drama based on a true story.

Anna was unfamiliar with Delia's story despite living in the same area. "I actually live in Kentish Town where this is set, where Delia lived, and I didn’t know anything about it," Anna, 47, reveals. "So when I read the script, I was very much in shock and awe.

Delia is a real person, an amazing exceptionally brave person." The four-part series recounts Delia's harrowing experience as an agency nurse who survived a violent relationship with murderer John Sweeney in the 1990s, and her subsequent journey through the justice system.
