A lovesick boyfriend who drove a 200 mile round trip to meet his girlfriend in a beauty spot was fined £200 for breaching Covid lockdown regulations.
The Peugeot driver had decided to make the trip from Lancashire to spend some alone time with his girlfriend, who lives in Leicestershire.
He picked her up from home and they decided to head to Staunton Harold Reservoir, near Melbourne, South Derbyshire, where they thought their meeting at the rural spot would not be interrupted.
But their moment of passion was lost when police interrupted their private meeting, Staffordshire Live reports. The couple was challenged by patrolling police and fined as the journey was not essential and they were not in a support bubble.
