Calum Best has been cleared of charges of sexually assaulting a British tourist at Wayne Lineker's Ibiza beach club. He was potentially facing up to three years in jail if found guilty.
After last Tuesday's one-day trial at the Audiencia Provincial Court in Palma, Majorca, it's been reported that Calum – a famous reality TV star and son of football legend George Best – won't face any punishment.
It hasn't been confirmed if the Spanish state prosecutors might launch an appeal against this judgement. Calum, 42, could've faced both jail time and a restraining order stopping him from being within 100 metres of the woman he allegedly attacked or trying to make contact with her for five years, according to Prosecutor Miguel Tous.
She gave evidence via video-link during his trial, stating he had sexually assaulted her by directing her hands inside his shorts after saying: "I've got something for you, close your eyes." She also claimed that a security guard at O Beach club in San Antonio laughed off her concern, asking if the man was a friend of Wayne Lineker, and refused to call the police.
