Love Island's Gemma Owen stuns villa as she reveals where her famous parents met
ok.co.ukGemma Owen, 19, had an incredible revelation for her housemates in last night's episode of Love Island. While the girls were getting ready in the dressing room, Ekin-Su asked the group: "Do you ever see people who have been together at 16 and are still together?" And Gemma replied: "Yeah, my mum and dad went to nursery together." The revelation that Gemma's parents have known each other since they were tiny tots prompted gasps from the girls with one being heard saying: "that's mental." Gemma's famous footballing father, Michael Owen, 42, and her mother Louise Bonsall, also 42, are indeed long-time childhood sweethearts.
They met in 1984 at Hawarden High School in Flintshire, Wales and on Valentines Day (which also happens to be Louise's birthday) 20 years later, they became engaged before marrying in a small, private ceremony in 2005.
The couple have been married for 17 years and have four children together: Gemma, James, Emily and Jessica. Louise is reportedly set to be appearing on Love Island very soon for the infamous Meet the Parents episode.
Gemma, the Owen's oldest child is 19 and has been coupled up with 23 year old fishmonger Luca Bish for most of the series so far.
