Naga Munchetty has spoken out after her BBC colleague Emily Maitlis announced her departure from the channel earlier this week.The BBC Breakfast presenter has taken to Twitter to wish her friend and colleague well after Emily announced she will be leaving the BBC after 20 years.Emily, who was the lead anchor for BBC Two's news and current affairs programme Newsnight after joining the team first in 2006, has traded broadcasting for podcasting, and will be doing so with former BBC colleague Jon Sopel. Taking to social media to announce the news, Emily said: "Some work news - @BBCJonSopel and I are going to launch a brand new podcast with @Global, exec produced by @dinosofos.

BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent shared a 12 second phone call with co-host Dan Walker before accepting her new role on the show.The 50-year-old journalist began filling in as a temporary host on the iconic red sofa 10 years ago.However, she was made main presenter on the programme since October last year following the departure of Louise Minchin. She has opened up about how she accepted her role and the question she asked Dan before agreeing to the presenting job.Speaking to The Mirror, Sally said: "I did have a 12 second conversation with Dan before all of this started where I said, 'You are staying for a bit aren't you?' And he went, 'Yeah, I think so.'"So I was like right.

BBC broadcasters Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel have left the BBC to join Global with an exclusive deal.The pair are set to host their own podcast show together as well as an LBC show.Dino Sofos, founder of audio production company Persephonica and former head of BBC News Podcasts, will also be joining as the show's executive producer.Maitlis previously hosted Newsnight for the BBC while Sopel was the channel's North American Editor, and they both presented the Americast podcast which focusses on US politics.Emily Maitlis also interviewed Prince Andrew about the Epstein scandal and has recently said that the words he said in the interview "may come to be the only testimony we have."Political editor for BBC News Andrew Marr has also recently moved to Global and is set to present an upcoming show.Emily Maitlis discussed the move: "We are just so delighted to be launching this brand new podcast, which will build on everything we’ve achieved with Americast over the last few years, and it will find new audiences and a new home with Global.”She also took to Twitter to speak upon the matter, saying that it will be a "wrench" to leave the BBC after "20 phenomenal years."The 51-year-old also wrote that she is "grateful for the opportunities" and the "incredible people" she has worked with who have become "dear friends."Jon Sopel also revealed that he is "delighted" to be joining Global: "We’ve been blown away by the reception for Americast, and are so excited that Global has given us the opportunity to build on this success by creating this innovative news podcast.
