Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971) is an English media personality, actress, television presenter, singer, and author. She has judged on the television talent show competition Britain's Got Talent since the show began its run in 2007 on ITV. As an actress, Holden played the role of Mel in Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000), Geraldine Titley in The Grimleys (1999-2001), Sarah Trevanion in Wild at Heart (2006–2008), Lizzie, the Ring Mistress, in Big Top (2009), and the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

Los Angeles City Councilmembers representing Hollywood introduced a resolution on Friday in support of the striking workers, and calling on the studios to return to the bargaining table to meet workers’ demands. “This is a fight for the future of Hollywood,” said Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez, who represents most of Hollywood, including Netflix and Paramount. “We can’t allow these big corporations to enjoy $30 billion in profits over the last few years, and then refuse to pay their workers a living wage.” “This resolution is a proud declaration of solidarity with working families across Los Angeles.” said Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky, who represents Fox and CBS studios. “WGA writers, like all workers, deserve to be paid what they are worth, and they deserve dignity in their work.

It’s past time the studios recognize that, come back to the table, and end this strike now.”   The resolution: WHEREAS, the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) (jointly WGA), which collectively represent over 11,500 writers in film and television across the country, are currently without a contract and on strike; and WHEREAS, the WGA’s reasonable demands to the major media companies that employ their members – including Disney, NBC Universal, Paramount, Netflix, Apple and Amazon – have not been met; and WHEREAS, writers are facing the most comprehensive assault on their compensation and working conditions in a generation.
