Lorraine Kelly has spoken out on the funeral of her late friend Dame Deborah James following her untimely death at the age of 40 last month.The journalist and broadcaster's farewell took place on Wednesday 20 July, in Barnes, London, and was attended by the ITV star, 62, along with a number of other famous faces.
Returning to work on Thursday 21 July, Lorraine appeared on Good Morning Britain ahead of her own show, where Ben Shephard, 47, encouraged her to tell viewers about the emotional day. "It looked like an incredible day Lorraine," he shared, to which she responded: "Do you know Ben, it was beautiful.
It was so beautiful, it was such a celebration of an amazing, amazing woman. "There were a lot of tears. But there really was a lot of laughs as well as we remembered her." Lorraine, who paid tribute to her "dear friend" Deborah following the funeral, added: "She planned it all and it was perfection as you would expect." Dame Deborah’s coffin arrived in a vintage Rolls-Royce hearse with more than a dozen members of family walking behind it.
During the ceremony, poems were read by both her children – Hugo, 14, and Eloise, 12 – while her husband Sebastien delivered the eulogy.
